The Five Towns College Fall Festival of Guitar will include faculty workshops with Professor Peter Rogine and Professor Steven Gleason on Thursday, October 21, 2010.

2010 Guitar Festival events will happen on the following days:

Fall Guitar Festival Day 1
Friday, October 22 – starting at 7:30pm

Fall Guitar Festival Day 2
Saturday, October 23 – starting at 2:00pm

Fall Guitar Festival Day 3
Sunday, October 24 – starting at 2:00pm

Barry Galbraith “Guitar In The Wind”

Hello fellow jazz guitarists,

Barry Galbraith recorded an album under his own name called “Guitar In The Wind” . The session had a small wind ensemble with scored parts and Barry improvised.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with his son or family members who may know the wereabouts of the scores/parts?

Our guitar ensembles at Five Towns College (Dix Hills) would benefit greatly from playing this material. Any help in this matter is well appreciated.

Wes Montgomery “Fusion” charts

Jimmy Jones wrote absolutely beautiful charts for the album ‘Fusion”.

Here at Five Towns College (Dix Hills,NY) we are considering doing a tribute to Wes and would like to perform some of these numbers with an orchestra.

Anyone know where the scores might be located? Many musicians have not listened to the album carefully as the writing is first rate and to my mind is at the level of the scoring of “Lady In Satin”.

During the late 1950′s and early sixities Wes toured with his brothers and later with Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. Rumor has it that there are some CD’s available of performances at the Half Note in NYC probably broadcast with radio personality Alan Grant moderating. Does anyone out there have these? Please let me now as I am doing a research paper and transcriptions of Wes playing live.

Peter Rogine is a world class musician, educator and performer who has gained prominence because of the extraordinary instructional insights he has with students.

Peter earned a B.A. in music from Queens College in Flushing, NY and an M.A. in composition from Long Island University, NY.
